Yakitori Chicken
This delish meal will be a favourite for the whole family and is quick to prep, cook and dish up. You'll be able to get the ingredients from an Asian supermarket or well stocked regular supermarket.
Ingredients
- 300-400g lean chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 4 tbsp sake
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 5 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp cornflour
Method
Whisk all sauce ingredients together - if you have enough time you can marinate the chicken pieces for several hours beforehand in a covered bowl in the fridge, otherwise you can just put it all together when you're ready to cook it.
Place in a frying pan on medium heat and cook until sauce begins to thicken and chicken is cooked through.
Serve with fresh rice and Japanese coleslaw or salad. You can garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and/or a drizzle of Kewpie mayonnaise.
